JOB TITLE: Dance Instructors
ORGANIZATION: Creatively WILD Art Studio
TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS/ORGANIZATION:
Located in the heart of Dumbo, Creatively WILD Art Studio (CWAS) offers innovative art classes for all age groups and socioeconomic classes.
For the past seven years, Creatively WILD has provided art classes, scholarship programs and free public art programs to families city-wide. We know no cultural or racial boundaries; we believe art is a universal language that inspires a shared love of beauty.
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN WORKING WITH THE AUTISM COMMUNITY/KIDS WITH AUTISM?
When the studio expanded to include dance classes last fall, we had interest in our Teen Hip Hop class. Ian began taking the class and we noticed how musically inclined he was! We suggested that he begin taking tap classes, instead. Ian taps once a week with us and has learned so much!
HOW LONG HAS THE PROGRAM BEEN GOING?
Since the Fall of 2016
GIVE US SOME SUCCESS STORIES/CHALLENGES ALONG THE WAY?
At first it was a challenge to learn the best way to teach Ian, but once that was nailed down it’s been amazing! We are all so impressed with how far he’s come and how he can already execute advanced tap steps. He surprises us every week!
WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS AND/OR ADVICE FOR PARENTS/FAMILIES LOOKING INTO YOUR PROGRAM?
If interested, we’d love to hear from you. Check out our schedule for sample classes http://www.creativelywildartstudio.com/index.php/programs/classes or email the studio at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If there isn’t a class on our current schedule that fits your wants and needs, we are open to working with you to create new classes!
